“Love the Energy Boston Celtics Fans Bring”: NBA Commissioner Discusses TD Garden Crowd Screaming ‘F**k You Draymond’
Wednesday’s counterpunch resulted in a 116-100 victory and a 2-1 series lead, putting the Warriors two more punches away from a championship elimination. From Games 2 through 3, the roles were reversed. The Warriors took issue with the TD Garden crowd’s “F*** you, Draymond” shouts on, as if they had never heard such language before, while Boston Celtics were irritated with a mild whistle against Green on Sunday.
The Warriors blew apart the Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals at Chase Center in San Francisco, thanks to Draymond Green’s edge. Before Game 3, Ime Udoka gave his players some tips on how to deal with Green’s antics at TD Garden in Boston.
He wasn’t the best player in the NBA Finals in 2022, or even the fifth or sixth best, but he was the most talked about. He was well aware of what awaited him in Boston: a fan base that thrives on having a foe to despise. He was actually hoping for it. Green, on the other hand, struggled in Game 3. Now, the NBA commissioner has a word or two about the Garden screaming on Draymond Green.
Adam Silver talks about Boston Celtics fans screaming at Draymond Green
“I want fans to enjoy themselves. Of course, from the league office, you want to see it done with respect, but I get it. I love the energy Boston fans bring to the game,” Adam Silver said.
The TD Garden audience was serenaded by the king of all foul words many times when Green was engaged in a play. He was unconcerned.
“I embrace it. I enjoy it. I didn’t really feed off of it tonight. I don’t think I fed off much tonight,” Green said. “But yeah, that’s — that’s something that I enjoy. Waste a lot of energy talking to me, so it’s great. It’s great.”
Game 3 came down to who played harder, according to Green, despite all the conversation between games of strategy and modifications.
